Sukup Manufacturing Co. Receives Four AE50 Awards
St. Joseph, Michigan. – The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) has named four Sukup Manufacturing Co. products as winners of 2016 AE50 awards. Sukup received AE50 awards for their Stirring Machine Gear Motor Delay, U-Trough Hanger Bearing, QuadraTouch Pro dryer controls, and SMART Loop.
AE50 awards honor the year’s most innovative designs in engineering products or systems for the food and agriculture industries. All four Sukup AE50 award winning products are featured in the January/February 2016 special AE50 issue of ASABE’s magazine Resource: Engineering & Technology for a Sustainable World.
“Four of our products winning AE50 awards in one year is a record for us,” said Charles Sukup. “One of the driving principles of Sukup Manufacturing Co. is to continually develop innovative ideas that make agriculture more efficient and profitable. Receiving the four AE50 awards from ASABE is quite an honor and shows that Sukup is serious about bringing new ideas to the industry.”
The award winning products hint at the breadth of the Sukup product line. The Stirring Machine Delay Control System is yet another advancement to the product on which the company was founded. The Self-Aligning and Locking U-Trough Auger Hanger Bearing is an innovation added to a relatively new product in the company’s unloading equipment line. The bearing’s design allows the auger to be removed and reinstalled without direct access to the bearing, which is critical in the event of a plugged unload system.
The SMART LoopTM and QuadraTouch ProTM speak to Sukup Manufacturing Co.’s dedication to having the most advanced grain dryers on the market. The Simultaneous Monitoring and Reaction Technology (SMART LoopTM) is a self-learning control system for operating an automatic grain dryer at optimum speed and temperature levels. The advanced control loop combines classic drying principals with proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control technology and robust math engines to deliver a superb method of dryer control. Sukup’s QuadraTouch ProTM grain dryer control console is a much-advanced version of the 2009 AE50 Award-winning QuadraTouchTM console. The new version is capable of supporting multiple devices simultaneously, has a larger, higher-resolution display and an 80GB hard drive that stores the operating software, the entire operating manual and 17 troubleshooting videos, and allows remote operation via smartphone, tablet or PC. making it the most advanced grain dryer on the market.
Companies from around the world submit entries to the annual AE50 competition and up to 50 of the best products are chosen by a panel of international engineering experts. The judges select products that will best advance engineering for the food and agriculture industries.
The AE50 awards program is sponsored by Resource to emphasize the role of new products and systems in bringing advanced technology to the marketplace. These engineering developments help farmers, food processors and equipment manufacturers cut costs, enhance quality and increase profits.
Resource, a magazine geared to agricultural, biological and food system engineers worldwide, is produced at ASABE headquarters in St. Joseph, Michigan. The publication is read by thousands involved in the agricultural, food and biological industries.
