SHEFFIELD, Iowa - Be sure to tune in to Iowa Public Television’s new series of Iowa Entrepreneur on Friday, May 26 at 6:30 pm and Sunday, May 28 at 10:30 am. They will be spotlighting Sukup Manufacturing Co. along with Breads from Anna, both Iowa born companies.
The Iowa Entrepreneur series features locally owned businesses in Iowa. With more than 200,000 small businesses in the state, and thousands more starting up each year, Iowans are turning to entrepreneurship in record numbers to reach their dreams. Each episode spotlights two businesses and the stories of how they overcame personal and financial struggles. Meet these extraordinary people, learn how they began their businesses, what their journey has been like and what defines success for them.
Sukup Manufacturing Co. is the world’s largest family-owned and operated grain storage, drying and handling equipment manufacturer headquartered in Sheffield, Iowa, and covers 1,000,000 sq. ft. of office, manufacturing and warehouse space. The company employs over 500 people, making it one of the largest employers in North Central Iowa. Three generations of the family are now active in the business.
Sukup’s product line includes on-farm and commercial grain bins, portable and tower dryers, centrifugal and axial fans and heaters, stirring machines, bin unloading equipment and bin floors and supports. Sukup also manufactures a line of material handling equipment that includes bucket elevators, drag conveyors and chain loop conveyors, as well as a line of steel buildings.
Sukup has six distribution centers located throughout the Midwest. Sukup products are sold throughout the U.S. and Canada, as well as in over 80 foreign countries.
