Observe safe operating practices! Sukup Manufacturing Co. is committed to providing products that can be used safely throughout the product's lifetime, but ultimately, safe operation depends on you! On safety decals, this symbol and the signal words danger, warning, caution and notice draw your attention to important instructions regarding safety. They indicate potential hazards and levels of intensity.
DANGER indicates an imminently hazardous situation, which, if not avoided, will result in death or serious injury.
WARNING indicates a potentially hazardous situation, which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury, and includes hazards that are exposed when guards are removed.
CAUTION indicates a potentially hazardous situation, which, if not avoided, may result in minor or moderate injury.
NOTICE alerts you to practices unrelated to personal injury, such as messages related to property damage.
Take Steps to Ensure Safe Operation
Control of Hazardous Energy OSHA 1910.147 (Lockout/ Tagout)
- Notify all persons in the area (Affected Personnel)
- Identify all energy sources (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, gravity, etc.)
- Isolate and lockout all energy sources
- Verify energy source is isolated (attempt to operate machinery, use meter on electrical)
If you must enter the bin for repair or maintenance
- Use a safety harness, safety line and respirator
- Station another person outside the bin
- Avoid the center of the bin
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment
- Keep clear of all augers and moving parts
Use safe practices
- Carefully read ALL equipment manuals & ALL safety decals
- Learn operating procedures & comply with safety regulations
- Keep shields and decals in place – replace worn or missing shields
- Keep clear of all augers and moving parts
- Keep children away from bins and vehicles with flowing grain
- Thoroughly train ALL operators in basic operations & safe operating procedures
